Compliance you cannot evidence
Every circular adds a requirement — competency-based questions, art-integrated learning, experiential hours — and none removes the last one. Schools comply on paper and have no way to show it happened in the classroom.
The HPC lands on the class teacher
Self-assessment, peer assessment and teacher observation, by hand, for forty-odd children, twice a term. The Holistic Progress Card is the right idea and the wrong amount of transcription.
Records in eleven places
Attendance in one system, marks in a spreadsheet, internal assessment in a diary, question papers on a pen drive. When a parent asks why a child dropped, there is nothing to put in front of them.
Marks tell you a child is struggling. Krama tells you where it started.
Every question is tagged to a learning outcome, and every outcome knows what it depends on — across grades, not just within a chapter. So a weak result can be traced back along its prerequisites until the chain actually breaks.

What the school actually gets
Lesson plans mapped to learning outcomes
Teachers plan against NCERT chapters and CBSE learning outcomes together, with experiential and art-integrated activities suggested per outcome. The school gets a coverage view — which outcomes were taught, in which section, by when. That is the answer an affiliation renewal asks for.
Question papers that hold to the blueprint
Periodic tests, half-yearly and pre-board papers generated to the CBSE sample-paper blueprint: section-wise weightage, competency-based and case-study ratios, typology split from Remembering to Creating. Marking schemes come with the paper, so no HOD re-counts marks at midnight.
Holistic Progress Cards without the paperwork
Self-assessment, peer feedback and teacher observation collected through the term in short entries — on a phone, in two minutes — instead of a fortnight of transcription. Krama assembles the HPC in the CBSE format across all four domains, with the descriptive remarks already drafted.
Internal assessment on record, defensibly
Periodic tests, notebook submission, subject enrichment and project work recorded against the 20-mark scheme as they happen, with who entered what and when. A result committee starts from one sheet, and a parent question has an answer with evidence behind it.

What a competency-based question actually looks like: ten rewrites
CBSE's question papers for 2026-27 Class 10 are out, with the files dated 21 and 22 September, and they show item by item what separates a competency question from a recall one. Here are ten ordinary questions rewritten the same way, across four subjects, with answers.
After the half-yearlies: read the results by question, not by student
A section average tells you almost nothing about what to teach next. Read the same marks three ways, by cohort, by question and by prerequisite, and a class of "weak students" often turns out to be one missing skill from two years back.
The 20 internal marks are the ones you will have to defend. CBSE has already written down how.
The 80-mark paper is the board's to justify, and the 20 marks awarded inside your school are yours. The 2026-27 curriculum lists, in some detail, the record it expects you to be able to produce when someone asks.
